Tips for Saving Money at the Grocery Store

Let's face it, we're all paying more at the grocery store these days. The good news is you can do something about it. By incorporating good habits (shopping from a list, using coupons, and buying items on sale), you can save a fair amount of money over time. Also, you can use store loyalty programs and rebate applications to save even more.

CNBC had a helpful article on this subject which goes into move detail on how to save money. The only two points I would take issue with are #1 (using a rewards credit card) and #10 (bringing your own bag). Using a credit card for food purchases is risky from a financial standpoint, plus debt is a highly profitable product for advertisers. My guess is it didn't appear at the top of the list by accident. Bringing your own bag may make you feel good about yourself but reusable bags carry a high risk of food contamination. Is getting sick worth saving $0.10/bag over?

Anyway, take a look at the article and see what you can incorporate into your shopping routine.
